Cash Money Records CEO Birdman is telling fans to believe the hype days after reports emerged online claiming rap-metal crew Limp Bizkit signed to his label and revealed what is up next for the music veterans.

According to Birdman, Limp Bizkit’s frontman reached out to get the wheels rolling and make the deal happen.

Fred [Durst] reached out, bruh,” Birdman said in an interview. “I was already a fan of him. When the opportunity came, we really was supposed to announce it at the Grammys. [Lil] Wayne was going to announce it at the Grammys, but he did it when he felt like it. … He’s a visionary, he a great artist. Also, I want him to be a part of our staff and take over the rock department and bring us over more talent because that’s what he does. I think with having Limp he brings a lot.” (XXL Mag)

Durst also explained his motivation for teaming with Birdman’s team.

“As both an artist and someone who has signed artists, I can say without a doubt that Cash Money is at the top of their game,” Durst said in a statement. “What attracted me to the label is not only their great taste and hustle, but their belief in their artists and the family atmosphere. Slim and Birdman allow their artists to be themselves and encourage creative output and continued development. I look forward to bringing my vision as a director as well as my voice to the label and to Limp Bizkit putting out some of our best music to date.” (XXL Mag)

Last week, Durst hopped on Twitter and announced his YMCMB affiliation.

“The game is missing danger, electricity, and rock n roll!!!!” Cash Money Limp Bizkit,” he tweeted Friday (February 24).

“Rock sh*t doesn’t rock anymore! They say the whole game done went pop so I’m back in this ho! #CMLB” (Fred Durst’s Twitter)

Lil Wayne had also made the deal official, prior to Durst’s tweets.

Lil Wayne announced on Thursday that one of the icons of 90s nu-metal, Limp Bizkit, would be joining the YMCMB roster. In an interview with New York’s 98.7 KissFM station DJ Lenny Green, Wayne said, “we’re always listening and looking at acts. Every other day I hear about somebody new just signed to Cash Money … The other day I found out Limp Bizkit signed to Cash Money. They’re signing everybody.” Wayne also said that the label could be working with former Murder Inc. princess Ashanti, but it was the news that Bizkit would join the likes of Nicki Minaj and Drake that raised the most eyebrows. Lil Wayne & Birdman Get Biz-y, Young Money/Cash Money Signs Limp Bizkit

News: Lil Wayne & Birdman Get Biz-y, Young Money/Cash Money Signs Limp Bizkit

Young Money/Cash Money Records are out to prove the company is much more than urban music by signing rocker Fred Durst‘s rap-metal crew, Limp Bizkit.

Durst publicly broke the news early Friday (February 24) morning.

“The game is missing danger, electricity, and rock n roll!!!!” Cash Money Limp Bizkit,” he tweeted Friday.

“Rock sh*t doesn’t rock anymore! They say the whole game done went pop so I’m back in this ho! #CMLB” (Fred Durst’s Twitter)

According to reports, Young Money’s Lil Wayne has also made the deal official.

(MTV)

Bizkit’s run in the music industry dates all the way back to the mid-1990′s.

The rap-metal outfit Limp Bizkit was formed in Florida in 1994 by vocalist Fred Durst and his friend, bassist Sam Rivers. Rivers’ cousin John Otto soon joined on drums, and guitarist Wes Borland completed the original foursome (later supplemented by DJ Lethal). After Korn played the Jacksonville area in 1995, bassist Fieldy got several tattoos from Durst (a tattoo artist) and the two became friends. The next time Korn were in the area, they picked up Limp Bizkit’s demo tape and were so impressed that they passed it on to their producer, Ross Robinson. Thanks mostly to word-of-mouth publicity, the band was chosen to tour with House of Pain and the Deftones. The label contracts came pouring in, and after signing with Flip/Interscope, Limp Bizkit released their debut album, Three Dollar Bill Y’All. (All Music)

The group’s signing comes after the recent addition of rap veterans Mystikal and Busta Rhymes to Cash Money.

“This whole experience that’s getting ready to happen is probably going to be one of the most defining moments in hip-hop and probably in entertainment overall,” said Busta. “This alliance with the Conglomerate and YMCMB and me and [Birdman] and [Lil] Wayne, the whole family, it’s something that’s been a long time coming because we just always had a respect level and a genuine and organic friendship for a very long time. It goes back in the day because me and Bird used to spend a million dollars a year on cars alone just to compete at the Funk Flex car shows and talk sh*t to each other and live it up and have fun.” (Derick G)

Birdman Buys Big Brother Maybach, “He’s The Coolest N*gga In The World” [Video]

News: Birdman Buys Big Brother Maybach, “He’s The Coolest N*gga In The World” [Video]

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

Cash Money Records’ Birdman is following up his recent purchases of new whips for Lil Wayne and Mack Maine by treating his big brother/co-founder Slim to a brand new Mercedes Maybach.

Showing off the whip’s luxury accessories like ceiling lights and a flat screen television, Birdman expressed his love for Slim.

It was just one week ago that we saw footage of Birdman buying matching Bentleys for Lil Wayne and Mack Maine, but the Cash Money CEO’s giving ways just can’t be stopped. Now, he’s bought his brother/Cash Money co-founder Slim a brand-new Maybach. “My brother, money can’t buy the love and respect I have for that n*gga,” Bird said in the video. “[He means] everything on Earth to me. I’d give that n*gga my blood, my veins, my vessels. He’s the coolest n*gga in the world — he’s the head n*gga in charge. He’s the coolest n*gga I ever met in my life. Money can’t buy love.” (Complex)

Last November, reports hit the Internet announcing Maybach’s discontinuation within two years.

Mercedes-Benz’s ultra-luxury Maybach brand will be no more starting in 2013, according to the Detroit News. While having a century’s worth of history, the Maybach marquee was revived in the U.S. market in 2003 to compete against Rolls-Royce and Bentley. During that time, the brand essentially sold only one model in two lengths: the Type 57 and Type 62. Amenities included a fully reclining rear seat, electrotransparent sunroof, rear refrigerator and standard champagne flutes. (Kicking Tires)

Just last week, Bird treated Young Money president Mack Maine and Lil Wayne to their own rides.

Birdman knows how to take care of his family. The Cash Money CEO presented his star Lil Wayne with a Bentley Mulsanne, which costs around 5,000. “Everytime I do something for myself, I like to do it for my son too,” said Baby. Mack Maine was also on the receiving end of his generosity, getting his own Rolls-Royce with a big red bow on top. “I think I deserve to be excited,” said the Young Money president. “I used to drive a Cavalier when I was 15. Who’d have ever imagined?” But one thing Birdman’s money can’t buy is loyalty. “It’s priceless,” he said. “Being loyal, being down, hard work, and grinding, that’s what YMCMB about.” (Derick G)

Back in 2008, the music executive gave Wayne million for his birthday.

Birthday boy Lil Wayne was left stunned when mentor and pal Birdman handed him million at his 26th birthday party in Miami on Tuesday night. Stars DJ Khaled and Akon looked on in amazement as the “Got Money” hitmaker opened a briefcase Birdman handed him and discovered it was full of crisp new bills. A stunned party guest says, “Lil Wayne was left speechless. He was almost in tears when he hugged his friend. I mean, who wouldn’t like million as a birthday gift?” The Club Mansion bash was a lavish affair all round 00 one of the party’s main attractions was an ice sculpture full of frozen 0 bills. Birdman Kills The “Free Weezy” Hype, Addresses Lil Wayne Arrest Rumors

News: Birdman Kills The “Free Weezy” Hype, Addresses Lil Wayne Arrest Rumors

Monday, Feb 13, 2012 3:25PM

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

Cash Money Records boss Birdman has came forward to clear the air on reports claiming Young Money head honcho Lil Wayne was arrested last night (February 12) in Los Angeles.

While remaining mum on the details, Birdman said there is no truth to the gossip.

Moments before Lil Wayne’s Grammy performance, rumors began to swirl online that the rap star had been arrested backstage on gun charges. When Lil Wayne hopped to the stage and delivered a verse, some speculated that the authorities were waiting offstage to cart him away. Now it seems that the news was a false alarm, and that nothing of the sort happened tonight. “[It's] not true, he’s good,” said Bryan “Birdman” Williams, chief of Cash Money Records, in an electronic message to FORBES. “I never heard about that. He was good all day.” (Forbes)

Speculation and rumors surrounding the misreported arrest landed online Sunday evening.

Rumor that Weezy got in trouble with the police surfaced just moments before the 29-year-old took the stage inside Los Angeles’ Staples Center. When he then performed a dance tribute with the likes of Chris Brown and David Guetta, it was speculated that the authorities were waiting for him offstage. (Ace Showbiz)

The Associated Press mistakenly reported on Lil Wayne’s arrest.

The AP report stated: “Rapper Lil Wayne has been arrested backstage at the Grammy’s on gun charges. Details to come…” Just minutes after these reports surfaced, sources quickly backtracked and confirmed that all reports were fake. (Global Grind)

The rap star previously spent a stint behind bars on a gun conviction.

If Weezy had been arrested, it would not have been his first brush with the law. He was jailed for eight months in 2010 on a criminal posession of a weapon charge related to a 2007 arrest. (International Business Times)

Gucci Mane Admits Losing Super Bowl XLVI Bet, “[Me & Birdman] Both Went For The Patriots” [Video]

News: Gucci Mane Admits Losing Super Bowl XLVI Bet, “[Me & Birdman] Both Went For The Patriots” [Video]

Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane suffered the same loss as Cash Money Records’ Birdman last weekend, now revealing he also put his money on the New England Patriots winning Super Bowl XLVI.

Not only losing with the Pats, Gucci said two other wagers were met with defeat during the NFL playoffs.

“That’s my partner and we’re definitely trying to work something out,” Gucci said referring to Birdman. “We’re always trying to work something out. You know I’m a business man. I always keep my ears open to what’s going on. [Am I a sports fan?] I’m a big sports fan. I lost like three bets in a row. I bet on the [Baltimore] Ravens, the [San Francisco] 49ers and the Patriots and I lost three in a row. [Did I want to take on Birdman's million bet?] Nah, he wanted the same team, both of us went for the Patriots. Yeah, I lost.” (Hot 107.9)

Earlier in the week, Birdman said no one would match his million wager on the Patriots.

“Nobody would touch my 5million not even 1million Bet.scared money don’t make nomoney. . Now I’m gone spend some$$$$$.YMCMB,” he tweeted February 6th. (Birdman’s Twitter)

Despite Birdman’s claim, online gambling site BetOnline.com publicly challenged the music executive a week prior.

“If Birdman is prepared to put his money where his mouth is, we are prepared to accept his million wager on either the point spread or the money line of Super Bowl XLVI,” said Dave Mason, BetOnline brand manager, in a statement. “Birdman simply needs to go to BetOnline and register online. Then, he can email me directly and I will provide him wire instructions in order to get his million in post-up funds sent in a timely manner so we can proceed with the bet. Once Birdman’s bet is in, we will release a snapshot of the bet in his BetOnline.com account, and Birdman will finally have proof that he is the sports bettor who he boasts of being.” (Statement)

Prior to the New York Giants winning 21-17 against the Pats, G-Unit’s 50 Cent analyzed the seriousness of his bet.

In an exclusive Yahoo! interview, the artist born Curtis Jackson explained why he responded to a wager proposed by another hip-hop star, Cash Money Records co-founder Bryan “Baby” Williams. “Baby had said he had million on the Patriots,” 50 explained while sitting in the trailer backstage of the Bud Light Hotel in Indianapolis. “I just think he was just passionate about the Patriots winning and just said that. I don’t think he actually would bet million.” 50 said he was okay gambling million since he won 0,000 in another recent bet. In January, he won 0,000 when the Giants became the NFC champions. “It would just be risking what I won the first time,” he added. (Yahoo News)

According to Birdman, he could not find anyone to put up a million dollar bet against him.

Cash Money Records’ Birdman better be careful what he wishes for as a gambling website claims it is prepared to match his million Super Bowl XLVI bet.

According to BetOnline.com, the company is ready to face-off against Birdman’s wager.

Birdman Flies High W/ ‘Life’ Story, “I Could Say It’s One Of My Best Projects”

News: Birdman Flies High W/ ‘Life’ Story, “I Could Say It’s One Of My Best Projects”

Saturday, Jan 28, 2012 10:05PM

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

Cash Money Records’ Birdman recently updated fans on the status of his forthcoming Bigger Than Life solo album and described his quality of music as growing better with time.

Despite having over five solo and joint albums to his name, Birdman promised Bigger Than Life is his best work yet.

“I could say it’s one of my best projects,” Birdman said in an interview. “We always say that but I mean you’re supposed to always get better with time. We got so much growth, experience, and we’re surrounded by great, young talent. They make it so easy for me to do music and I’m still enjoying it. I don’t love nothing more in life–outside of God and my family–than working with this music and [turning] these youngsters into superstars.” (Complex)

A couple years ago, the rapper-turned-executive revealed plans to drop the LP in early 2011.

“[Drake and Wayne's album] is very possible. Because Wayne works a lot and Drake is out there with us too. They’re gonna do a lot of recording together so I don’t see why not. And I have a solo album coming out at the top of the year called Bigger Than Life. Then we have a Father Like Son album that we’ll drop around Father’s Day. But I’m more into them. I want to see our artists be as successful as possible. They’re young. The bigger they are, the bigger we are. That’s my whole motivation now.” (VIBE)

Outside of music-making, he has kept busy by recently inking rap veterans Mystikal and Busta Rhymes to Cash Money.

“It’s real fortunate to be able to have a 20-year career run and partner up with the most powerful record company in the business 20 years later,” Busta told MTV News from the set of his Hype Williams-directed “Why Stop Now” video. “They understand. They know how to nurture the music, they know how to let artists be artists, they know how to let you reach your fullest capability creatively,” Busta said of Cash Money. (MTV)

Although Cash Money’s roster continues to expand, Birdman recently nixed talk of rappers Young Buck and Lil B signing to his label.

“Both of them is two of the little homies I have the utmost respect for,” he said. ” I don’t know Lil B’s situation. I don’t know Buck’s situation. I’m friends to both of them. If the opportunity ever came, I would love to work with both of them. I know Buck is in a situation. I really don’t know Lil B’s situation, he’s real cool with my son [Lil] Wayne. I got love and respect for both of them, but they never came across the menu ye — I spoke with Buck a few times, he’s been a friend of the family. B is a friend of the family. But it ain’t came to none of that. Not to this point. We like to be new, young. My son [Wayne] does the newer acts [on Young Money]. On our side [Cash Money] it be more veteran.” (RapFix)

Bigger Than Life is expected to drop later this year.

Rather than focusing purely on selling ability, Billboard’s Power list centered on business success and power moves.

The Billboard Power 100 list is about more than album and ticket sales; the artists featured are all actively involved in making impactful business decisions for their careers. In the case of Beyonce, she has recently been behind multi-million-dollar branding deals with L’Oreal, Coty and Target, and her clothing line House of Dereon continues to boast an international presence. Meanwhile, Jay-Z is one of the most celebrated artists to make the jump from the stage to the boardroom. He served as CEO of Def Jam Records and, in 2008, brokered a deal with Live Nation (said to be worth 0 million) to create Roc Nation, a management, music and entertainment company with a roster that includes Rihanna, J. Cole, Willow Smith and Ester Dean. His interests outside of music (Rocawear, Translation Advertising and stakes in 40/40 Club and the New Jersey Nets) have also grabbed headlines and helped to feed his bottom line. (Billboard)
