Jay-Z ‘Disappointed’ With Chris Brown & Rihanna + Trick Daddy Goes In On Plies?!?

SOHH Whatcha Think: Jay-Z ‘Disappointed’ With Chris Brown & Rihanna + Trick Daddy Goes In On Plies?!?

Written by Jeezis Peace aka Slick Daddy

Yes, yes y’all. It’s Friday. Time to get ya mind right for the weekend, but first — we’re gonna hit you with a few interesting music news bites. Enjoy.

[Editor's Note: The views expressed in this column do not necessarily reflect those of SOHH]

Trick Daddy is gonna keep it real. Always. Like DMX‘s interview on Power 105 yesterday, Trick recently let his feelings be known about a few artists. But his thoughts on fellow Florida rapper Plies definitely raised some eyebrows.

Plies is a bitch. Me and Plies’ problem started because I walked up on Plies [in Orlando at the Roxy] talking about he didn’t want me at his show, and I was only coming to support. Ever since then he has refused to even get on the phone like a man and talk to me about it. Anytime I walk by accidentally they start running. When I shot the [DJ Khaled] “Out Here Grindin’” video shoot in New York, Plies wouldn’t come because he didn’t know I was on the record.(Ozone Mag)

Trick went on to add that Plies has a good education so he ought to fall back with all the goon talk.

I just think Plies should just realize that it’s easier to be amongst us than on top of us. When I listen to [Plies'] music, he tries to be so ghetto and hard. Then I research and find out the nigga graduated at the top of his class. The nigga went to college. I would trade for that. You could be Trick Daddy, shit. If I could go to college and have a clean record and graduate as valedictorian, I’d trade Trick Daddy for that.(Ozone Mag)

In other news … a source has revealed that Hov is still not cool with Chris and Rihanna working together. The music mogul is reportedly disappointed that RiRi has run back to her “Mr. Wrong.” Well, Jay, she’s a grown woman now: Gotta let her make her own decisions.

“Jay was absolutely disgusted by what Chris did to Rihanna. Jay doesn’t understand how a man could ever lay hands on a woman; it just goes against who he is and about. Chris is absolutely dead to Jay, he wants nothing to do with him ever. Now that Rihanna is hooking up with Chris and recording songs with him, Jay is deeply disappointed in her actions. He can’t fathom why Rihanna is doing the things she is doing. He understands the need for forgiveness, but he is adamant that Rihanna shouldn’t forget what Chris did to her. Jay wonders what kind of message this is sending to Rihanna’s young female fans. Rihanna knows how Jay feels about Chris, but she doesn’t care, she is going to do what she wants,” a source close to the situation tells us.(Rap Radar)

The story went on to say that the Jigga Man believes that their situation will never be right and that Chris still has an anger problem. Jay might be right: Just recently, Chris was accused of snatching a chick’s celly because she took some unapproved pics of him.

Now that Jay-Z is a proud daddy to daughter, Blue Ivy, with wife Beyoncé, “he is even more protective of the women in his life. Jay has told Rihanna he will never give his blessing for what she is doing with Chris. He has told her, this isn’t going to end well, it never does. In Jay’s opinion, Chris has rage issues that he doesn’t think have been dealt with,” the insider says.(Rap Radar)

SOHH Watcha Think — Does Hov have a right to still be upset over the Chris/RiRi incident, or should he forgive and forget as she has?

Oh yeah. Peep this new track by Nicki Minaj f/ Lil Wayne.

Jay-Z & Beyonce’s Baby Parodied In “SNL” Skit [Video]

News: Jay-Z & Beyonce’s Baby Parodied In “SNL” Skit [Video]

Sunday, Feb 19, 2012 11:45AM

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

Music couple Jay-Z and Beyonce‘s newborn daughter has made its way to the small screen courtesy of a “Saturday Night Live” skit with a parodied version of select celebrities.

In the parody, spoofed versions of music veteran Prince and rap star Nicki Minaj all made appearances.

You know you’ve arrived when you get your own “Saturday Night Live” skit. Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s daughter Blue Ivy Carter was at the center of a parody starring Maya Rudolph (Beyoncé) and Jay Pharoah (Jay-Z). The famous couple were visited by some familiar faces including Prince, LL Cool J, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Taylor Swift, and Bon Iver, played by Justin Timberlake. Even Nicki Minaj (Nasim Pedrad) stopped by to sing a lullaby inspired by her Grammy performance. But it didn’t go over too well with Blue’s folks. “Nicki please, you’re scaring him,” said Beyoncé. “Him? I thought Blue was a girl,” responded Nicki. “No, I meant Prince,” said B. (Rap-Up)

Last month, comedian Rob Ryan spoofed Jay’s “Glory” Blue Ivy Carter tribute by making his own “Lenox Hill Glory” record.

“The most amazing feeling I feel, is closing down floor 6 at Lenox Hill,” Ryan raps, “Baby I blocked the ICU, it’s a pretty jerk move it’s true… true… Sorry/Locked doors and blocked wards/Reinformced by my security guards/Didn’t want people seeing/I made sure there was not a human being/This day belongs to Hova/So all babies go move on ova/Hurry. Scurry. Scurry. Sorry…/Everything that I paid for…, my own suite, I wish I would have paid more/God makes no mistakes, I made a few/Like not buying the whole Godd*mn ICU” (“Lenox Hill Glory”)

The couple’s newborn daughter has had a significant impact on Beyonce’s recent fashion choices.

She’s taken two nights off from new mommyhood this week to support hubby Jay-Z, but Beyoncé needn’t look further than her fingernails to be reminded of the new girl running the world these days: daughter Blue Ivy Carter. “You see the blue nails. You see the IV tattoo on her finger. It’s clear that she was bringing Blue along with her because she doesn’t want to be away from her for a second,” Beyoncé’s longtime manicurist, Lisa Logan, tells PEOPLE of her Monday manicure. So how is the newly manicured mom adjusting to motherhood? “Amazingly,” Logan says. “When I see her, I’m like, ‘Girl, you’re glowing.’ She’s so elated. Motherhood is written all over her face. She’s owning it and wearing it well.” (PEOPLE)

Last week, Jay and Bey unveiled their daughter’s photos.

Rapper Jay-Z and wife Beyonce unveiled highly-anticipated pictures of their new baby daughter Blue Ivy Carter on Friday, opting to post intimate family shots on social networking site Tumblr rather than selling them to the highest bidder. The couple posted five photos which show the newborn, already sporting a head of long black hair, being cuddled by her proud parents and capturing intimate moments of family life. (Reuters)

VIDEO: Nicki Minaj Grammy Show Encore + Jay-Z & Kanye Skip Grammys?!

SOHH Whatcha Think: VIDEO: Nicki Minaj Grammy Show Encore + Jay-Z & Kanye Skip Grammys?!

Monday, Feb 13, 2012 7:05AM

Written by Jeezis Peace aka RIP Whitney

The Grammy Awards went down last night and aside from a few creepy moments, odd wins and a Whitney Houston tribute, it was business as usual. Well, except for the fact that two of music’s biggest personalities, Jay-Z and Kanye West, were absent from the evenings proceedings.

[Editor's Note: The views expressed in this column do not necessarily reflect those of SOHH.]

At first I figured Hov might have skipped the show because he was at the crib with the baby, but then it occurred to me that he wasn’t there last year, either. Jigga has always been critical of the Grammys, saying they seem to rap less love than other genres.

“I am boycotting the Grammys because too many major rap artists continue to be overlooked,” he said in 2002. “Rappers deserve more attention from the Grammy committee and from the whole world. If it’s got a gun everybody knows about it; but if we go on a world tour, no one knows.(MTV)

I’d have to say I’m inclined to agree: But then, I’m not a huge fan of the Grammys anyway. They’re too long and boring. Plus some of the categories don’t make a lot of sense. An artist can release their debut album in 2008 and still win Best New Artist. Then an artist can win both Song of the Year and Record of the Year. Cray.

In the end, Yeezy – also a no show – cleaned up: Ya boy racked up four wins last night. Not too shabby, Ye.

Our question of the day: How much weight do you put into the Grammy Awards? Do you think the categories, like Best New Artist are fair?

Last night, millions of viewers watched in awe as Young Money femcee Nicki Minaj completed her internship with The Illuminati. Kidding. But seriously, that performance was creepy. You know Beyonce covered Blue Ivy‘s eyes when Nicki started levitating.

Was there a message in the performance, or her Grammy attire for that matter? Over the top outfits can get old, too. Nicki has become like that attention-seeking child that does sh*t just to be noticed: After a while, nothing they do is shocking because their “weirdness” becomes expected. If Nicki truly wanted to surprise everyone, she should have came through in something normal.

If you missed her performance last night, here it is:

Lil Wayne Fires Another Shot At Jay-Z During Pre-Grammy Show [Video]

News: Lil Wayne Fires Another Shot At Jay-Z During Pre-Grammy Show [Video]

Sunday, Feb 12, 2012 8:13PM

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

There may still be some tension with Lil Wayne toward rap mogul Jay-Z as new footage shows the Young Money boss taking a shot at Young Hov during a pre-Grammy Awards gathering this weekend.

Based on the footage, Weezy used an open microphone opportunity to get at Hov, referencing the rapper’s platinum-selling Watch the Throne joint album.

Months after spitting an eyebrow-raising diss directed at Jay-Z on his song “It’s Good,” Lil Wayne has once again fired off a (thinly veiled) shot at Jay, this time including his “Watch The Throne” buddy, Kanye West. At the Cash Money Pre-Grammys party at Paramount Studios on Saturday night (Feb. 11), Weezy gave a lengthy speech that ended with him rattling off a few bars for the crowd. “I met a bad red bone, I took the bitch home/ I asked her what she want to watch, she said surely not The Throne,” he rapped. (Billboard)

The war of words began following a past interview with Cash Money Records boss Birdman a.k.a. Baby questioning Jay’s wealth.

Things began to sour after a 2009 interview in which Cash Money CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams objected to Jay-Z taking the crown for MTV News’ “Hottest MCs in the Game” list for that year. “I don’t think he the #1 MC, in no kinda way,” Baby said, casting the first stone. “Wayne is the best, he do the most and he make the most money. I don’t think no n—a in the business make more money than us.” Jay returned fire at the top of 2011. On the Throne’s “H.A.M.,” Jigga made it clear that not only was Birdman, a.k.a. Baby, and Wayne not holding any Hov-caliber bucks, but that financially they couldn’t even compare to his wife, Beyoncé. “I’m like, ‘Really, half-a-billi?’ N—a, really, you got Baby money/ Keep it real with n—as, n—as ain’t got my lady money,” Jay rhymed. (MTV)

This later turned into Weezy getting at Jay on his “It’s Good” Tha Carter IV record.

“Talkin’ ’bout baby money, I gotcha baby money,” Wayne raps. “Kidnap your b*tch get that how much you love your lady money / I know you fake, n*gga / Press your brakes, n*gga / I’ll take you out, that’s a date, n*gga / I’m a grown a** blood, stop playing with me / Play a**hole, and get an a** whippin’ / I think you pussycat, hello kitty.” (“It’s Good”)

Shortly after its widespread release, Wayne confirmed his shots toward Hov.

“I know there won’t be any repercussions behind what I did,” says a confident Wayne when asked if he had second thoughts about recording his acidic verse for ‘It’s Good.’ “I know for a fact music is about perception. You can’t do anything but perceive what you hear. I know that for a fact. So I can’t ever be upset about someone’s reaction.” Wayne added that while he understands the intrigue and buzz behind the record, it’s just another song. “I’m not going to say I don’t know what would happen before I even say [something on record],” he explains. “I do know what will happen. I’m aware of it. But it is what it is.” (VIBE)

M.I.A. Tells America F.U., Andre 3000 Creeps Back In, Jay-Z Still Runs This Town

[Editor's Note: The views of this column do not necessarily reflect those of SOHH.com]

1. I’m Going To M.I.A.M.I

SMH. Can any doggies say publicity stunt? LOL. In case y’all didn’t realize it, last Sunday’s Super Bowl game was not only the most watched Super Bowl game in history, thus far, but it was the most watched television program of all time. SMH. Can y’all believe that? Take anything that’s ever been televised since television was created. NADA! Nothing has been watched more and you can call me a bias New York Jets doggy all you want, but it wasn’t the New York Giants/New England Patriots that made doggies tune in. It was Madonna, and, well, Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. Funny though, just like how the Giants have three superstar wide receivers (Victor Cruz, Hakeen Nicks, Mario Manningham), the most unexpected spectacle came from the least expected performer. Sure, Madonna is easily the equivalent of Cruuuuuuuuuuz and you have Nicki and Nicks going hand in hand, but then you have M.I.A. and Manningham. Manningham made the biggest play of Super Bowl 46 and M.I.A. made the biggest gesture of Super Bowl 46′s halftime show. LOL. Accidental? Intentional? Let’s check this out:

Madonna earned praise early on for her half-time performance at the Super Bowl on Sunday night, but it was her guest star M.I.A. who may have stolen the headlines from her by making an obscene gesture during the show. M.I.A, the stage name of the hip-hop performer Maya Arulpragasam, appeared with the rapper Nicki Minaj to sing “Give Me All Your Luvin’,” a new Madonna song that was performed during a medley of the Material Girl’s hits. At the end of her verse, M.I.A. stopped just short of singing a vulgar lyric and extended her middle finger to the camera. The television broadcast appeared to go blurry just after this, but not in time to obscure the gesture. (New York Times)

^ Now I don’t know about y’all, but I had no idea after this performance, M.I.A., would be the talk of the town. I mean, you have Madonna and Nicki, yet M.I.A. is the talk of the town. Go figure, right? LOL. It didn’t take long before NBC put their PR team to work and cranked out an apology.

“We apologize for the inappropriate gesture that aired during halftime. It was a spontaneous gesture that our delay system caught late.” (Associated Press)

I usually don’t like to wag my finger at these things because I love when people rage against the machine, but M.I.A. was wrong right here. C’mon, M.I.A., this wasn’t even YOUR performance. That fact makes me ticked off. Think about it. This was Madonna first-ever Super Bowl performance and she’s turned into an after thought? Nah, that ain’t right. But that’s neither here or there, turns out M.I.A. might have to snatch up some of that “Swagger Like Us” paper b/c fines are a-coming.

mia-middle-finger-2012-02-05-300x300.jpgmadonna-2012-01-15-300x300.jpg

M.I.A. will end up paying any fines imposed on NBC as a result of her finger wag during the Super Bowl halftime show … sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ. Our sources say … the NFL has indemnified NBC … because the NFL is responsible for the halftime content. But the NFL was smart, given the history of performers who wanted to do something shocking to get attention during the biggest TV event of the year. So we’re told … M.I.A. signed a contract with the NFL for the halftime performance, and in that contract M.I.A. agreed to indemnify the NFL for any money it might be forced to pay if the FCC comes down on the Peacock Network. Remember, CBS was hit with a 0,000 FCC fine after Janet Jackson’s famous wardrobe malfunction, but that fine was thrown out by a federal appeals court. Sources tell us … aside from the fact that the NFL doesn’t want to pay a huge fine, the organization wants to send a message to performers — don’t you dare screw with us. (TMZ)

^ Even after all of this, turns out there was a lot more to this story. Now, let me get this right…M.I.A. did this stunt to get at her fiance? Or, “lover”? LOL!!!

M.I.A. has reportedly split from her fiancé, fueling rumours that the obscene gesture she made at Sunday’s Super Bowl (5th February) could have been aimed at her former lover. Madonna was said to be ‘livid’ with the Paper Planes rapper for flipping the bird in front of millions at the prestigious sporting event, with a source telling The Sun: “Madonna wasn’t impressed. She prides herself on professionalism. (MTV UK)

^ BUT WAIT!!! There’s more!!! LOL. Seems like doggy wasn’t taking those split rumors too kindly.

Earlier this week, editors from the New York Daily News reported the British star has been spending most of her time in her native London, while her billionaire businessman partner lives in the Big Apple. But Bronfman has now fired back at the speculation on his Twitter.com blog, blasting reports suggesting M.I.A. is a bad mother for her shocking Super Bowl stunt. In a series of posts on Thursday, he wrote, “its (sic) sad to see our media in such a state unfounded gossipy nonsense when there are real problems in the world. “media needs to rethink it’s (sic) code of ethics. to consistently try to tear down a working mother is just beyond me… BTW (by the way) – all this stuff about Maya being a bad mom is completely out of bounds. She’s a really great mom.” And Bronfman can’t understand all the controversy surrounding M.I.A. – because he thinks she’s done well balancing work with motherhood. He added, “new song, great. new video, great. superbowl (sic) performance, great. MIA as a mom, great.” Directing a message to M.I.A. herself, he posted, “Can’t say it enough – Don’t let them flip the script – you’re a great mom and ikhyd loves you.” The star has been heavily criticized for her rude hand gesture during her Super Bowl half-time performance, which prompted officials at America’s NBC network to apologize to viewers. (Toronto Sun)

^ Two things doggies. First, this could all be settled by a SIMPLE statement from M.I.A. or even her publicist. Second? Please say it with me, doggies, PU-BLI-CI-TY-STUNT!!! No further questions, your honor.

2. We Are Not The Same, I Am A Martian

^ LOL. OK, so maybe I still listen to The Carter III on the low. LOL. Say what y’all want but I’m an Andre 3000 fan to the core. I know we’ve had doggy teasing us for the past few years with guest appearances here and there, but QUOTE ME, doggy is BACK! There’s a significant difference between doing a simple guest feature where no doggy can see you and tell how old/new your verse is and then being involved with big endorsement campaigns. Gilette? Converse? WTF!? Andre 3000 is back doggies and if y’all even doubted it, peep the math:

As part of Converse Inc.’s continuing “Three Artists. One Song” campaign, Gorillaz, former LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy and Outkast rapper Andre 3000 have teamed up for an original track. “DoYaThing” will be released on Feb. 23, along with a new Gorillaz footwear collection designed by Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett for Converse. The Gorillaz partnership with Converse, which was initially announced last November, marks Murphy’s return as a vocalist after LCD Soundsystem officially disbanded last April, as well as Andre 3000′s latest feature after providing recent guest spots for Drake, Ke$ha and B.o.B. “DoYaThing” will be available as a free download on Converse’s official website. (Billboard)

In this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly, Gorillaz mastermind Damon Albarn talks about the latest installment of Converse’s ongoing “Three Artists. One Song” project — past participants include Kid Cudi, Santigold, the Strokes’ Julian Casablancas, members of Vampire Weekend and Best Coast, and more — which put him in a studio for three days with LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy and OutKast’s Andre 3000. The result track, a head-tripping masterpiece called “DoYaThing,” will be available for free download on the official Converse website on February 23. “I had spoken to James a couple times, but previously I knew only [his and Andre's] work,” Albarn told EW. “I love that level of spontaneity. I look for it all the time. It doesn’t always arrive on my doorstep, but it’s something I aspire to.” (Entertainment Weekly)

And then what?

“Style is taking what you have, kind of what you’re given, and playing with it,” Dre said in a Gillette promotional video. “That’s what style is, just kinda finding what’s in you and putting it out into something you have that nobody else has. You kind of just have to love it and nurture it and say, ‘This is me and I’m just gonna blast it out to the world!’ Facial hair is a part of getting up in the morning. It took me a long time to actually grow hair on my face, so when I got it, I didn’t want to get rid of it! I think it’s something that frames your face up. … At the moment, me and my barber kind of separated in a way ’cause my hair’s growing. [laughs] So, I don’t go by and get haircuts. I haven’t gone by in about three years. Maybe. I do my own grooming at home so he reaches out every now and again. He’s one less customer right now.” (Gillette)

Now add all of this to that wack (sorry Stacks) vegetarian recipe he gave last month and I think we can make a legitimate argument for Andre’s return. Call it wishful thinking, but my fingers are crossed doggies. I NEED Andre 3000! LOL.

3. Doggy of the Week: Jay-Z

There’s doggies that impress you and then there’s doggies that impress the world. Jay-Z just so happens to be one of those doggies. Even though we know he’s made bad moves, business or personal, his swag is so elegant-fly that it’s kinda cool. Didn’t doggy rap, “Nets could go 0-82″ something something something along the lines of he wouldn’t care? LOL. I mean, Jay hardly catches “L’s” and this week we saw why he keeps winning. Getting love from Pharrell, making a 0-plus lawsuit vanish into thin air, asked to save Rocawear, performing at the legendary Carnegie Hall and then dropping “N*ggas In Paris” music video? There’s no stopping this doggy. Put them hands together and give it up to Jigga, doggies!

1. My Doggy’s Swag Is Neptunes-Far

“Not so much the N.E.R.D., because I’m in producer mode. But I’m definitely in the studio producing sh*t, though. … Uh, that was awesome. But again, that was another covert operation,” Pharrell said in an interview. “That was, uh… That was, um… Everything was by design. That’s all I’ll say.”

^ I know, doggies, it was corny to include this in why Jay should receive “Doggy of the Week” honors, but it’s still kind of hot. I mean, for Pharrell to open up, if you can even call it that, on this record? That’s a hot look, I don’t care what y’all say! LOLOLOL.

2. I Keep Stacking, These Doggies Let Money Blow

Jay-ZLegal Gavel

A 7,000 private jet lawsuit against Jay-Z has been brought in for an unexpected landing — TMZ has learned, the case has been dismissed. TMZ broke the story … Jigga was sued in 2010 for flaking on a six-figure bill after racking up 55 hours of flying time on a private jet — and only paying for 37. But good news for Hova, the private jet company has dismissed the case. It’s unclear exactly why — but you can bet a private settlement was reached. Calls to both Jay-Z’s camp and the private jet company were not returned.

^ Pow! That’s big balling. It’s more so the fact that Jay allegedly ditched paying big paper for this case and before y’all know it, the whole thing vanishes into the air. I mean, this whole case dismissal was quieter than that Kobe Bryant and Colorado girl settlement. LOL!!!

3. Super Doggy To The Rescue

Jay-Z, 42, is lending his A-list status and will star in the brand’s first-ever television campaign. Filmed in November, the spot will begin to air on outlets including MTV, BET and TNT, most prominently during NBA basketball games. “Titled ‘From Marcy to Madison Square,’ the black-and-white spots track Jay-Z’s rise from selling CDs out of the trunk of a car in the Marcy Projects of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, to headlining concerts at Madison Square Garden. The spot uses footage from Jay-Z’s ‘Watch the Throne’ concert at MSG in November,” WWD writes.

This is sad. Even though it looks ill that Jay would get involved like this but to think Rocawear has lost its touch? SMH. Could business really be “that” bad? Granted, Jay isn’t really there running the show (but did he ever, really?) but to think that Rocawear is in dire need for support?

4. I’m Repping Legendary Doggy Status

As Jay-Z transitioned from hit song to hit song at a Carnegie Hall concert Monday night, so did the lighting, changing from red to white to blue. The veteran rapper then performed his latest hit, “Glory,” about his 1-month-old daughter with Beyoncé, Blue Ivy Carter. “I didn’t think I was going to make it through that one,” he said, sounding emotional. “That was tough.” It was one of the many jams Jay-Z performed at New York’s famed venue, his latest achievement in music domination. The rapper is the second hip-hop act to perform at Carnegie Hall. Wyclef Jean did so in 2001 with Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton and Whitney Houston.

I don’t know how many of y’all doggies know about Carnegie Hall but this has to be one of the most famous spots/venues in New York City. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Enough said. But the fact that Jay held it down at such a historic place and got Nas and Alicia Keys to come out? That’s wild classic, doggies.

5. Doggies In Paris

Watching double the amount of talent put on a mind-blowing show in the new music video for their hit “N—-s in Paris,” released on Vevo.com Thursday. The four-minute clip, directed by West himself, is taken from a run of live shows at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, giving fans who couldn’t score tickets to the sold-out tour the chance to experience what it was like — if they had been on psychedelic drugs at the time. Appropriately, the video opens with a warning that its special effects could lead to epileptic seizures. And rightfully so, as the two rap icons — not to mention dancing models, lasers, Paris’ Cathedral of Notre Dame and a puma stalking across the stage — merge and are pulled apart in a kaleidoscope of quick cuts. Blink and you’ll miss a one-second cameo from producer Hit Boy.

THAT’S CRAY! Let’s keep something in mind. This album came out last summer and they’re still pumping out fresh singles and working the project like it’s the fourth quarter. Give it up to these two doggies!

4. Mrs. Butterworth: Nona Monroe

I know I have asked this question before, doggies, but I must pose it again. Is there really any need for me to comment right here? LOL. As much as I would love to think my lead-in to the most juicy, attractive, delightful women on the Internet each Friday goes either way under or way over any doggy’s head. SMH. OK, now that that’s out of my system, let’s get to Nona Malone. It amazes me that every week we come across something special like Miss Malone that has the grace and pizazz that only the good Lord (or Je-sus as we call him) could have blessed her with. I mean, doggies, if there was a female God of War, Nona would be in the top rankings. Without further ado, feast your eyes on the lovely……

5. “STFU” Honors

Doggies keep talking, doggies gonna keep blogging. LOL. My fault doggies, I always wanted to start off a post with some quotable, rap-song-sounding lead-in and that’s what came off the top of my dome piece. LOL. It’s that time of the week where we take a close, well, up-close-and-personal look at what your favorite RAPPERS have had to say in the past seven days. Leading the way is none other than 2 Chainz. Granted, he might be telling the truth but I just find it hard to believe Lil Wayne was courting him to join Young Money. And FYI: WHY WOULD YOU TURN IT DOWN!?!?! LOL. Then it’s Diddy. Come on Puff, who are you kidding with these signings? Looks hot but the way you’re hyping it up? Seems more like some 90210-type stuff. Speaking of Bad Boys Doggies, what about French Montana‘s analysis of Kanye West‘s brilliance for not having phones? Truth be told, I know a grip of doggies who got their services cut off, what about them Frenchie? LOL. And then we gotta take it to Twitter. Birdman!? SMH. And finally? Lil Kim‘s publicist addressing that booty getting taxed? LOL. In case y’all didn’t realize it yet, it’s time for “SHUT THE F*CK UP” Honors!

1. 2 Chainz

2 ChainzYoung Money

I was one of the first people invited to Young Money, before the album. Wayne asked me,” Chainz said when he appeared on Wednesday’s “RapFix Live.” “From the outside looking in, I hate to see people look like they clique hopping,” Chainz said. “But when you just look at an artist that went from here to this subsidiary, to this subsidiary — for me I felt like I’m smart enough to sign 2 Chainz slash Def Jam like I did.” Instead of signing to another artist, with Def Jam the “Spend It” MC was able to become his own boss and partner his new label T.R.U. with the deep-rooted record company. As soon as he signed, Chainz sent Wayne a text thanking him for being a true friend. “Lil Wayne is one of the realist dudes in the game as far as opening up doors for people to eat and trickling down to their families,” he said. “He’s one of the most unselfish, talented people that I’ve been around.”

2. Diddy

DiddyBad Boy (Most Bizzare Career Moves)

It’s time for a whole new generation; it’s time for a whole new movement. So we got [Machine Gun Kelly], French Montana, Red Café; we got Cassie,” Diddy said in an interview. “We also have a new artist named Los that we signed. It’s official. We’re trying to put that young, youthful energy out in the air and do it the only way that Bad Boy can do it. … When you’ve been doing it for as long as we’ve been doing it, we the last ones standing from when we were doing it. And that’s not taking shots at nobody, that’s just a fact.”

3. French Montana

french-montana-2011-11-27-300x300.pngKanye West & Big Sean

“I always thought it was brilliant for Kanye not to have a phone. It’s like, with me, I deal with people different. It’s not like I don’t use [e-mail]. Everybody uses e-mail. I go on there to check for beats but I don’t really be hitting people on it to talk,” Montana said in an interview. “I like to talk to people, especially when my whole career is in your hands. Sometimes, I just want to hit you like in the middle of the night like “Look I just came up with this.” I’m more that kind of person, hand to hand with it. I mean feel like at times I don’t want no phone, either. If you are at a certain level like Kanye is at, most of the people who are calling your phone, are people who are going to ask you for something, negative energy.”

4. Birdman

BabyBaby (Dolphins)

Nobody would touch my 5million not even 1million Bet.scared money don’t make nomoney. . Now I’m gone spend some$$$$$.YMCMB,” he tweeted February 6th.

5. Lil Kim

Lil KimBeanie Sigel (Taxes)

It is a known fact that for some time TMZ has been running stories on celebrities or well known persons of interest and providing the general public and media with publicly accessible information on random celebrities and their private matters with the internal revenue service, this [sic] does not come as a surprise, as it is Tax Season and is a sell-able media opportunity,it is for no other reason that Kimberly Jones (a/k/a: LIL’ KIM) is now the target of such random media scrutiny. As it pertains to the story that was ran on TMZ(February 4,2012)regarding Lil’ Kim, we would like to inform fans, media, and the general public, that LIL’ KIM has hired professional attorneys to handle this matter(embellished by all standards via the media), and that she, along with her team of legal experts are working cooperatively and diligently with the I.R.S and federal authorities to amicably resolve the situation.”

***Doggies, the New York Giants won the Super Bowl. SMH. Can y’all believe it? I thought it wouldn’t be as bad as doggies said it would be, but I was buried with blue doggies clogging up the subways this week. LOL. Anyway though, I don’t know about y’all, but I’m heading out to catch that Safe House matinee. Denzel Washington has a blockbuster hit on his hands right here. Other than that, enjoy the weekend doggies and quote me, NEITHER Nicki Minaj or J. Cole are winning a Grammy this weekend! LOL! Catch y’all on Tuesday! –BB***

Following the Billboard honor, Cash Money’s Birdman issued a statement accepting the accolade.

“We got so much more we need to do,” Birdman says. “We dominate rap, but we need to dominate R&B. We need to dominate pop, gospel, country–we’re a brand, so we should be able to put out all these different types of music. We just got to keep grinding.” (Statement)

Rather than focusing purely on selling ability, Billboard’s Power list centered on business success and power moves.

The Billboard Power 100 list is about more than album and ticket sales; the artists featured are all actively involved in making impactful business decisions for their careers. In the case of Beyonce, she has recently been behind multi-million-dollar branding deals with L’Oreal, Coty and Target, and her clothing line House of Dereon continues to boast an international presence. Meanwhile, Jay-Z is one of the most celebrated artists to make the jump from the stage to the boardroom. He served as CEO of Def Jam Records and, in 2008, brokered a deal with Live Nation (said to be worth 0 million) to create Roc Nation, a management, music and entertainment company with a roster that includes Rihanna, J. Cole, Willow Smith and Ester Dean. His interests outside of music (Rocawear, Translation Advertising and stakes in 40/40 Club and the New Jersey Nets) have also grabbed headlines and helped to feed his bottom line. (Billboard)

Kanye West & Jay-Z Fuel Chris Rock/Dave Chappelle Reunion Plans

News: Kanye West & Jay-Z Fuel Chris Rock/Dave Chappelle Reunion Plans

Wednesday, Jan 25, 2012 4:16PM

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

Comedian Chris Rock has credited the recent pairing of Jay-Z and Kanye West with their platinum-selling Watch the Throne joint album for fueling plans to hook-up with estranged stand-up comic Dave Chappelle.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, Rock hopes he can get Chappelle to join in on a nationwide tour.

Rock briefly talked to us about his upcoming projects, and while he didn’t have much to say about his role in the omnibus comedy What To Expect When You’re Expecting (“Yeah, that’s coming out”), he’s pretty excited to go out on tour. “I’ve been talking to Chappelle a lot. Been trying to get Chappelle to go on tour,” he told us. Those reports had surfaced briefly in October, but we’d heard nothing since then; is Rock really going to make this a reality? “You know I’m not the hard one,” he said, laughing. “But I’m trying to make that happen. After seeing Kanye and Jay-Z, I was like, ‘Me and Dave should do this.’” (New York Mag)

Around late October, rumors of a Rock and Chappelle road trip spread online.

Today our sources dropped a bomb on us; we heard that comedians Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle are both on stage in New York working out at an undisclosed comedy club, and they heard that they have had discussions about doing a comedy show together! Word is if they make those plans a reality and things go well for that comedy show, they may even do a tour! (Humor Mill Mag)

Following Watch the Throne‘s August release, Jay gave his opinion on other artists following their blueprint.

“Anything that has success is gonna be emulated,” Jay added. “That’s the reason why we went down this road. We we down this road to make a great album but also to make a statement for this culture.” (99 Jamz)

The same month, Chappelle admitted he was rocking out to Watch the Throne.

“I just downloaded it yesterday,” Chappelle said when asked for his opinion on Watch the Throne. “I haven’t listened to the whole record. Real talk. Actually, I did see Kanye at Coachella [music festival]. Which was great…He ripped it, it was a good show…Nicki Minaj? Yeah, she’s a good looking girl. You keep asking me about all these girls. Nicki Minaj is a good looking girl.” (Wild 94.9)

Since “Chappelle’s Show” ended in the mid-2000′s, the elusive comedian has swayed away from the mainstream spotlight.

“Affion Crockett App”: “He Interviews The Usual Suspects From Jay-Z To Lil Wayne To Kanye West”

5 Reasons Why You Should Buy…: “Affion Crockett App”: “He Interviews The Usual Suspects From Jay-Z To Lil Wayne To Kanye West”

Wednesday, Jan 18, 2012 12:45PM

Written by SOHH for Matt Bijarchi

[With comedian Affion Crockett's first-ever mobile application now available, Fig1 app developer Matt Bijarchi gives you his Top 5 reasons to download this fun tool ASAP.]

1. Mr. Funnyman

The first reason you should get this is because it’s funny. Affion is funny and [the app] makes for a good laugh. It’s really something that you’re going to love [if you've seen] all of Affion’s impersonations. This entire project has taken about eight months. He had a lot of other projects going, but the other thing is he wanted to be smart about it. A lot of people come out of nowhere and put out an app. Affion is smart and he knew he wanted to take his time working on this. He wanted to make sure there were different [aspects to the] app, which could get refreshed so that when people went [re-opened it], there’s new content. He really wants to invest in these different channels of the app.

2. This Is How We Do It

The second reason is because it’s an application that you can use all year. Comedian Kevin Hart‘s app is great, but it’s a one issue app. We worked really hard for Affion’s app to make chanels that can get updated consistently. So you’re going to see an Affion’s advice section where he answers fans questions via social media. People can post questions and he can answer them via the app. So every quarter of the year, you’re going to have a new set of Affion’s advice; from dating to health, he’ll answer it all. We also have all of his YouTube videos. You’re going to be able to see all of his impersonations. Normally he would release the video on YouTube first, but what he’s doing now is going to exclusively show it off in the app. Then about a week later, it’ll go on YouTube. So with this app, you know you’re getting the freshest content.

3. How Do You Do, Sir?

There’s this other feature on there where it’s a radio show and he impersonates this British guy named Aff Samuels who interviews all of the usual suspects from Jay-Z to Lil Wayne to Kanye West. It’s just a fresh take on his comedy where he not only imitates famous musicians but he creates an original character. He plays off of himself and really does it well.

4. Shootin’ Stars

The fourth reason is because there’s a feature we’re calling “Star Cards”. It’s basically a greeting you can send a friend saying “Happy Birthday” or “Congratulations” e-greeting card from Affion.

5. MyTube

The final reason is because this is Affion’s first foray onto the mobile front. If you remember Affion was born as a digital personality. He’s one of these rare people with 40 million YouTube subscribers. He was born online. I think that speaks to his talent, that he’s really funny. He goes to where people are. He’s got a very unique talent. He doesn’t do stand up like Kevin Hart does. He does a very specific type of comedy that only a very certain group of people can do. So I think what’s exciting is Affion is going to be on top of mobile just as he’s been on top of YouTube.

You Decide. Will you purchase the Affion Crockett app?

Jay-Z & Beyonce’s Newborn Daughter’s Name Gets Kushed

News: Jay-Z & Beyonce’s Newborn Daughter’s Name Gets Kushed

Monday, Jan 16, 2012 6:35PM

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

Just a week after the birth of Jay-Z and Beyonce’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, reports are claiming their newborn’s name is being used to push drugs in California.

According to reports, their daughter’s name is getting stamped in Los Angeles.

Several weed dispensaries in Los Angeles are selling a new strain of pot called “OG Blue Ivy.” Of course, Beyonce and Jay-Z didn’t sign off on the new strain, but they don’t have a trademark on their daughter’s name and so far the stores haven’t received any sort of legal notice from the couple. A medical marijuana dispensary called 661 Medical in Rosamond, Calif. promoted a new strain called “Ivy Blue OG” by tweeting on Jan. 12: “#newstrain #newstrain #newstrain IVY BLUE OG #kush gram 8th #newstrain.” (Huffington Post)

Additional reporting claim Jay and Hov have no hand in their daughter’s name getting used at the marijuana dispensaries.

Beyonce and Jay-Z’s baby Blue Ivy isn’t just the youngest person to appear on the Billboard charts — she’s also the youngest person to have her own strain of marijuana named after her. TMZ has learned, multiple weed dispensaries in Hollywood are cashing in on hip hop’s baby princess … by selling a new strain of marijuana called “OG Blue Ivy.” Obviously Bee and Hova didn’t sign off on the new strain — but so far, none of the dispensaries have received any sort of legal notice from the couple. 99 problems, but a kush ain’t one. (TMZ)

In 2010, rap star Lil Wayne‘s rap alias was used to brand heroin.

PIX News took a ride along with Newark police yesterday and saw the spoils of a drug bust: 500 bricks of heroin. The stash was hidden inside a side panel of an SUV, latched shut by a special motor that was built specifically for the purpose of transporting illegal drugs. The packets have brand names too, these were called “Lil Wayne?” named after the popular musician. The destination of the drugs, worth 0 million, were the streets of Newark. (KSPR News)

Blue Ivy Carter was born last week at a New York City hospital.

They released an official statement on Monday, writing, “We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012.” “Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven,” they add in the statement. “She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs. and it was the best experience of both of our lives.” (The Hollywood Reporter)
