“He Can Rock A Song W/ Eminem & Not Get Knocked Out”

Top 5 Dead Or Alive: “He Can Rock A Song W/ Eminem & Not Get Knocked Out”

Written by SOHH for Crooked I

SOHH asks two players to name their Top 5 rappers of all-time, then pits their lists head-to-head to see whose hip-hop picks reign supreme. To make things tricky, we’ve created a “Hall of Fame” of emcees (see right) who are universally respected and therefore may not be mentioned by either player.

[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name their Top 5 rappers of all-time. To make things tricky, we've created a "Hall of Fame" of emcees (see right) who are universally respected and therefore may not be mentioned. After Sak Pase scooped out his top spitters last week, Crooked I unloads his favorite rappers.]

  • slaughterhouse.jpgJoe Budden. Joe Budden is in there because he’s got emotions with his music. On the West Coast, we’re kind of laid back, there’s a lot of green floating in the sky, even in our hoods, where the proverty is, at least there’s sunshine. That’s kind of a different look. The musicians out here have funk and soul. Joey’s got all of that. He’s got soul and so much sh*t. He’s just emotional and it brings that realness to his lyrics.

  • slaughterhouse.jpgRoyce Da 5’9. He’s in there because since day one, he’s probably one of the only cats that can rock a song with Eminem and not get knocked out. From day one. From Bad Meets Evil up until today. That’s a long time span. I’ve seen people fall off in a shorter time span. He’s in there, bars galore.

  • slaughterhouse.jpgJoell Ortiz. I think he’s in there because he represents that New York rugged and raw sh*t. When I think about that raw hip-hop and that boom bap hip-hop, I don’t think nobody represents it better than Joell Ortiz right now. I’m willing to put my money up, go on TV and debate this.

  • slaughterhouse.jpgCrooked I. I just think I’m the illest West Coast artist, ever. I work hard. I’m trying to get in there and smash all of the competition.

  • p-bun-b.jpgBun B. I know Bun is in there for sure because he’s put in his time. He’s truly a student of hip-hop. The skills are there and he’s represented Houston lovely since Scarface passed it on. Bun has held down Houston and the South in general. I’ve seen so many people come up to him like Lil Wayne and salute him.

Cash Money Records Signs Former Music Rival, “[It's The] First Song Deal I’ve Ever Had”

News: Cash Money Records Signs Former Music Rival, “[It's The] First Song Deal I’ve Ever Had”

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

Former Cash Money Records nemesis Bangladesh has proven his issues with the music empire are long gone, revealing he recently signed his first-ever song deal with Birdman’s company.

According to Bang, fans can continue to expect fresh Young Money/Cash Money tracks coming from him.

The powerhouse record label and Bangladesh have since straightened out their business, the producer revealed to MTV News. “We just did some nice business together. They just bought a whole bunch of tracks, that’s about it,” Bang said. “They gave me a song deal, basically, first song deal I ever had, so shouts out to Cash Money.” Fans can now expect to hear more of the Atlanta beatmaker’s pounding production on upcoming YMCMB releases. “Everybody respects each other, and real recognizes real. At the end of the day, the work is solid, so everybody wants to be in business with each other,” he said. “Our issues, we resolved the issues, so it was time to move on past that and do other business. “I think it’s really big,” Bangladesh added. “It’s a big step, because it went from negative to positive, so you could show people that you can always work things out.” (MTV)

Prior to things getting ironed out, Bang said Cash Money had failed to fully compensate him for 2011′s “6 Foot, 7 Foot” anthem.

In regards to “6 Foot, 7 Foot,” Bangladesh claims to have waived the upfront fee that he usually charges artists, just so he could have the opportunity to work with Tunechi again. “It’s not about the money, it’s not about me charging him for the beat, because he is Lil Wayne; he’s gonna sell albums,” the producer said. “You only really charge people that you think is not gonna really sell too much, so you want to get your money off top. You might not get it on the back-end because albums don’t sell no more.” What he does know is that he can’t continue to work with Cash Money until things get resolved. “Every time we come up with a solution, it never gets taken care of. I just can’t keep really giving them music.” (MTV)

Back in 2010, Bang aired out his frustrations with Cash Money over unpaid music.

“This is why Mannie Fresh don’t f*ck with [Cash Money] because he never got any royalty money,” he said in an interview. “That’s why Baby can go around flaunting this cash, because that’s everyone else’s money… It’s not even Wayne’s fault. Wayne is not getting money. He is given money, he’s not getting money. If Baby gets a million dollars he’ll buy Wayne a Phantom, but that’s in Cash Money’s name. That 14-bedroom mansion isn’t Wayne sh*t. That’s why he have his own company, because he was trying to leave Cash Money and the only thing that would keep him there was [if they] gave him his own thing. But Baby still controls that. All those Young Money artists don’t even know that they not getting royalty money.” (VIBE)

On a lighter note, the producer previously talked to SOHH about “6 Foot, 7 Foot” and “A Milli” comparisons.

“I think the industry just talks like that,” Bang told SOHH referencing “A Milli” and “6 Foot 7 Foot” comparisons. “You want to out-do your greatest. If his greatest was something else, ‘It’s better than this’ or ‘it’s 10 times better than that.’ You always want to out-do your greatest so ‘A Milli’ is the standard you want to reach. So you know, it’s ‘A Milli’ on steroids. I think that’s a great thing. You want to over achieve what you already did. [Lil Wayne and Cory Gunz] are both jamming. There’s no favorite [or who's better]. Wayne’s different than Cory Gunz and Cory Gunz is Cory Gunz. I don’t really compare great rappers. Obviously one is bigger than the other, but they’re on the same team so it be the media that’s always trying to make the difference in the two. ‘Who’s better?’ It’s not really about that, they’re both good. I would buy both albums [if the song was featured on both their LP's] for two different reasons. They’re not the same. You can’t compare what’s not the same.” (SOHH)

NICKI MINAJ: There was a leak of the Madonna-only demo of “Gimme All Your Luvin’,” so I feel that isn’t the full track—partially because I need Nicki to do another verse and definitely because we KNOW that MIA is on the song.

Singled Out: “I Remember I Played The Song Over At Dr. Dre Studio”

[SOHH highlights a hot single each week and offers a unique look at the record. After underground Houston artist Uzoy (pronounced "Uzi") discusses her track "Fast Foward," Jeezy's artist 2Eleven gives us the info on one of his latest tracks.]

My project, Project of the Block 2 is on its way, it’s the followup to the original project that I did back in 2008 which was basically one of my best street albums.

When I was just starting to do this music thing, that project solidified me as an artist, I did that first mixtape and when it was finished I was like, “I gotta catch up to these n*ggas.”

The first Block mixtape just covered so much that I was trying to get out, so part two is gonna sum it up and come hard for 2012. I got some dope a** features on there: Freddie Gibbs, Jeezy, Mack Maine … wait ’til this sh*t come out on February 11, I’m not even gonna give you anything else, just wait.

I gotta song called called “Airbound” produced by Justice League. My boy Omarion hopped on it … it’s real upbeat and motivational. It’s some real life sh*t I’m saying on that record about what I’ve been through.

Me and Justice League go way back from when they were doing Jeezy’s sh*t. I used to just be in the studio and be around. They heard me doing my thing and I got on their radar … I was sent a bunch of beats and I just picked this one. The hook was already for the track was already written by Don Primo, who writes a lot for Justice League.

I got the song and it was just something else. I remember I played the song over at Dr. Dre studio with Slim the Mobster one night and I played that track, n*gga was just like, “Aw sh*t!” People are liking the track.

But basically, that’s were I’m going with it. The new project has a lot of turned up music, that old, throwback 2Eleven and some motivational music.

Check out some footage of 2Eleven below”
